Our Sponsored Pup Declan!

Socialising Update from his Socialiser, Heidi

Declan has been busy continuing his training and he's been making some wonderful progress! Recently, we visited the beautiful Painswick Rococo Garden, where Declan enjoyed the vibrant surroundings and demonstrated excellent behaviour during our walk through the village of Painswick. We also indulged in some afternoon tea, where he practiced settling and impressed everyone with how calm and relaxed he was.

To further his socialisation and confidence in different environments, Declan has been accompanying us on various outings, including trips to local supermarkets and a popular pet shop. He's been practicing using lifts and stairs, which is an important part of his training. The staff and customers at the pet store were thrilled to meet him, and Declan soaked up all the attention!

In addition to these outings, Declan has been attending local puppy classes. These sessions have been great for his socialisation, allowing him to interact with other dogs in a relaxed setting. His hard work paid off when he passed his Puppy Foundation Assessment—a big milestone in his journey!
However, as he's grown, Declan's recall has become a bit of a challenge. We're working on this aspect of his training, and we're confident that with patience and practice, he'll get back on track. On a positive note, he's doing exceptionally well being able to settle, especially in cafés, where he's content to relax quietly while we enjoy a coffee.

Finally, Declan joined us for a visit to Solihull Hospital during an appointment, where he once again showcased his ability to remain calm and composed in a busy environment. His training is progressing beautifully, and we're excited to see him continue to develop into a fantastic assistance dog!
